Emails play an important role in your professional and personal life. Every day you receive several emails from different sources on your iPhone or Mac. The emails are probably from the subscribed portals where you have agreed to their terms and conditions for sending you the emails. While some of the emails are very useful, others are good to be trashed the moment they arrive in our inbox. The pure advertisement content in your emails is quite disturbing. Such content unnecessarily populates your inbox. Although the email app in your iPhone has a feature of differentiating the useful messages from the junk ones, at times it becomes difficult to get rid of the useless emails and the notifications.
Junk emails are annoying. They try to come in the way when you are working to deal with other important emails. Here, you are going to learn ways to prevent such emails from bothering you and your iPhone. Follow the tips below to block the email addresses on your iPhone.
Learn how to prevent receiving emails to your iPhone from your specified email address. Although you can still check the mail in the spam box, it will not bother you unnecessarily. You will not receive any notification from the blocked user.
Step 1: Open the Gmail app and log in to your account.
Step 2: Open your inbox. Open an email from the sender whom you wish to block. Alternatively, you can also search that name in the search box or type the email ID that you want to block.
Step 3: After you have open an email from the sender, you can see a small down-facing triangle in the top right corner of the email title. Click on it and you can see the dropped-down menu that contains an option called ‘Block [Name of the sender]’. For example, if you have received an email from a sender named XYZ then the option will appear as ‘Block XYZ’. Simply select this option.
Step 4: Click on the ‘Block’ Option. After you select this option, a pop-up message will display on your iPhone asking for your confirmation. Simply confirm and click on ‘Block’ option. This adds the email to your block list that makes sure you no longer receive any emails from that sender in your inbox. And, it’s done.
If you use iCloud Mail to send or receive emails, you can set up a mail Rule on your iCloud mail account in order to block the specific email addresses and move them to trash.
Step 1: Open iCloud and log in to your account with Apple ID and password. Now, open your Apple Mail inbox.
Step 2: Look for the ‘Settings’ option and tap on it to select ‘Rules’. The Settings option is a gear-shaped icon located at the lower-justify corner of the screen. Simply tap on it and you can see the pop-up menu that shows the option called ‘Rules’. Hit it to open the Rules window.
Step 3: Select the option which says ‘Add a Rule’. Click on the blue link located at the upper right side of your iPhone. This opens a drop-down menu. Now select an option that says ‘is from’.
Step 4: Now, you have to enter the email address that you wish you block. Under the section that says ‘if a message’, select the first drop-down menu as ‘is from’ and filter the messages from that particular email address. On the second blank space, input the email address you wish to block. From the drop-down menu in the third empty space, select ‘Move to Folder’. Finally, on the fourth option select ‘Junk’ from the drop-down menu.
Now, all the emails that enter to your iCloud mailbox will be automatically filtered on the basis of the rules that you have just set. In order to change this rule in future, you might have to change or delete the rule. There is an icon which says ‘i’ beside the Rule window, click on it and manage the rules.
